Handcrafted of recycled brass using the "lost wax" method of casting at an artisans' cooperative in Bamenda, Cameroun, this blackened brass hut miniature is a wonderful example of traditional West African ornamentation, design and a brass finishing technique known regionally as blackening. The exquisite detail and decoration on the piece were achieved using finely
woven wax threads which is a hallmark of "lost wax" casting. The brass alloy was made from recycled
metal. It measures 2 3/4" tall.
