Fair Trade Indian Dhokra Brass Elephant

Indian Craftsperson

Handcrafted of recycled brass using the "lost wax" method of casting, this elephant was cast in two parts, head and body. The fine detail and traditional ornamentation and decoration on the piece were achieved using finely woven wax threads which is a hallmark of "lost wax" casting which is known as dhokra work in India. The brass alloy was made from recycled metal. Elephants are a symbol of royalty and power in India.
